The Shadownessence Crowd - Awesome Dudes

Following a building meme elsewhere on my f'list, collectively I class the following dudes on my f'list as awesome:-

[livejournal.com profile] zenten.
[livejournal.com profile] sandchigger.
[livejournal.com profile] prettyarbitrary.
[livejournal.com profile] kris_ether.
[livejournal.com profile] jagash.
[livejournal.com profile] innocent_man.
[livejournal.com profile] gothamgirl70.
[livejournal.com profile] dgg.
[livejournal.com profile] azraelthe7th.

Why these people in particular? All of them come from Shadownessence, where I met them. At least one remembers an earlier site, the defunct Ex Libris Nocturnis.

I first encountered these forumites back when I was playing Hunter: the Reckoning. Since that time they have spread their interests far and wide, but they still keep in touch with one another on Livejournal, even with me.

I'd throw in [livejournal.com profile] deimos_masque, but I haven't heard much from him for a while.

So, guys, my verdict: Be awesome to one another!

Edit: Included [livejournal.com profile] kris_ether, [livejournal.com profile] innocent_man, [livejournal.com profile] dgg and [livejournal.com profile] gothamgirl70.

Same to you, dude. :) Good to still have you around.

To my shame, I almost forgot the delightful [livejournal.com profile] gothamgirl70. And I'd been so meticulous in picking over my f'list for SnE dudes and all ...

Editing the original post now to put your name in the frame, instead of in the comment. :)

Ahem.

I mean, you might not think I'm awesome, but I'm pretty sure we first met on SnE.

Same to you. :)

ELN was my first WW home on the web. Then after it started to slow down (along with the WW forums I hear) the best of both worlds moved over to SnE and made sweet, sweet love a whole that was greater than the sum of it's parts.

Cheers man. You are also the only one from SnE I have met in person.

I still don't frequent SnE much lately, but I should be posting some more actual play reports soon once the group here starts gaming once more (two more eps of Vampire, a Werewolf one shot and then Changeling: Venice).

I may not comment much but I do read your blog. I am beginning to most more once more (as seen by recent posts) and I still need to write up my impressions of Paris and outline my intentions for a World of Darkness Geist Paris game (oh when will I end this madness??!!)

I remember you berating that poor newbie DM for giving his party of fledgling D&D players an epic TPK on their first outing.

IIRC, the poor sod had managed, somehow, to wipe out his players' entire party in a kobold ambush before they even reached their first dungeon! :)

Yes. That is exactly what happened. What a fucking moronic way of destroying fun.

I haven't changed. Fortunately my wife is as quick and cutting with her words.

Nowadays, I mark a new DM's first TPK as their initiation into professional Storytelling. I do, however, encourage the newbies to have at least one game where the party survived under their belt. Even if they have to throw the dice behind the screen and secretly disregard poor results in favour of numbers more favourable to party survival. :)

I no longer need to fudge dice rolls for my group. They are lucky bastards! Oh and do crazy shit like summoning a spirit at a Dragon's Nest without any clue what they could get (this was a Crone vampire of course so they assume they know what they are doing... sigh).
