Gakked from someone on my f'list.

Yeah, this is about right. I find the Klingon strategy to be the best solution when it gets bad for me: fight it. Fight it with fire, and anger. Get out there and do something. Sit down and write, or read something, or just pick up the phone and call somebody for no reason, just because.

In other news, on the 17th I will be heading to Bristol. I'm changing at Brum at around 11:30, and I'll be at Bristol Temple Meads around 13:30. I'll have to make my way to the BBC studios in a hurry, because I have an appointment there for 14:00 hours - and I'll be back on the train to Brum at 15:30, so there's really not much time to get acquainted with a town I have always wanted to visit.

I'll let you guess what the appointment is for. I'll reveal all, closer to the time.

For right now, I've got to get into town. I just need to feel the ground beneath my shoes.

Average Brit Is Average

Average Brit Spends Year In Pub

I remember this time last year when Average Brit first entered the pub amid much fanfare. Now, one year later, he emerges, blinking into the light, having spent his one year in the pub.

A staggering achievement.

Average Brit was understandably elated by the accolades piled upon him. He is reported to have said to journalists "Thanks. It's been a brilliant year. I'd like to thank everyone for making this possible. Now I think I'll just nip down to the pub to celebrate."

Scope and Comment

Matters involving creativity, romance, and children could require some considerable thought today, dear Cancer. Some exciting new options may be available to you and your loved ones, and you might be inclined to mull over the possibilities. You might consult others to get a second opinion. For the most part, you'll want to decide on your own what's best at this time. In the meantime, you could keep yourself occupied by working on ongoing projects.

I'm currently watching the episode of Star Trek: no, we haven't stolen the idea for Babylon 5 at all, really Deep Space Nine where Ben Sisko has been placed in a Pah-Wraith vision where he believes himself to be in a racist 1950s America. All the characters from DS9 appear here as humans: Kira, Dax, Nog, Quark, Odo and Worf all appear as human, and all the actors get the traditional chance to appear as themselves, shorn of their rubber masks.

Thing is, it's the one where Sisko is a writer, facing a bleak future in a world which isn't ready for the kinds of stories he wants to tell.

It's one of my favourite tales.

Anyway, back to my writing.

Ancient Welsh Joke Retold

Gweli di HWN? Mae HWN yn beryg!
Have your eyes poked out with a spoon

Translated, it reads "You watching THIS? It's THIS that's the dangerous one!"

It reads best in Welsh. ;)
