The Doctor shrouded in white light, crucifixion poses etc its rather blatant at times.

If you charge material up electrostatically, then each part tries to get away from it's neighbours, and for a human that would be arms out stretched. And auraus of white light represent the massive energy escaping from control.

I'd do it the same even if I wasn't trying to push a JC style image out.

(I'm not saying they aren't. The whole let's raise our mobile phones in prayer was fairly messianic)
