Inappropriate News Headlines ...

In the past few days, a cousin of mine, a lovely lady who lives in the wilder parts of North Wales, gave birth to a bouncing baby boy: a son she named Huw.

It's a moment we're all proud of, all over the clan. We're all sending cards and gifts to the girl and, of course, to the newcomer.

(There you go, Tony Blair. A constituent who was born yesterday. You always wanted one ...)

The public announcement was made in the Announcements column, which occupied the bottom half of a page of the Liverpool Daily Post for today.

The top half carried a news article concerning some comment on a modern architectural construction in Wales or other, utterly unrelated to the announcements column: but it was a singularly inappropriate heading, considering that all eyes were being drawn to announcements of all these births.

The top heading read:

It's A Monstrosity

What can you say to something like that?
