Wiki Update - Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger page on Wikipedia

I was so looking forward to his portrayal of The Joker in the forthcoming Batman film, now in post. There was also a project he was set to do, which will now never be completed.

Loose threads. All those loose threads. Too many to have been a suicide. Way too many.

Accident? Misadventure?

We'll have to wait for the post mortem, but it's a hammer blow.

I wouldn't be surprised...

...if it was suicide. It sounds like there might have been a reason for it (well, he thought there was a reason maybe). But we're not going to know for sure until more comes out. However, I find it very difficult to believe it was because he was a drug addict that o.d'ed because he was an idiot or something.

Why is this very hard to believe, exactly?

Because in anything I've ever seen or read about him, he hasn't seemed like the drug addict type. *shrugs* Just my opinion which people are free to trample over if they like.

Someone with expendable income, time to spare, pressure to maintain an image in Hollywood and not enough people to tell him 'no' doesn't seem like the type that'd just maybe turn to drugs? I dunno, I'm kinda cynical about these things.

But money, time and image aren't enough reasons to assume that it could be that. There are plenty of poor people who work their asses off and have no image to maintain that are addicts. I'm cynical about a lot of things, too. And like I told Fiat, we're not going to know for certain until and IF they come out and say why.

Yes, of course there are poor drug addicts. There are also many, many, MANY Hollywood party people who are addicted to a metric ass-ton of things (ask me about my cousin sometime...). I give it until tomorrow's tabloid news shows before at least one "long time friend" of Mister Ledger's steps forward with a tell-all expose. And only that long because they've already taped today's episodes.

Sad. I work in a video store and had a couple customers actually tell me about this. I'm completely stunned. He was one of my favourite actors in a medium I lose respect for by the day.

My guess is it was an accident. He'd told a few interviewers he'd had problems sleeping since his work on both the Dark Knight and I'm Not There -- he actually said two Ambien only let him sleep for an hour. Being four years younger and Mr. Ledger and no more responsible when it comes to pills, my first instinct would be to double the dose.. I can easily see him making the same mistake.

According to the radio report I heard just this morning, it WAS NOT suicide, but Heath Ledger did over-extend himself. Supposedly Heath Ledger was having a hard time playing the Joker because he was working on two projects at once and hardly getting any sleep. Due to the nature of the Joker, acting under sleep deprivation actually helped in playing the role of a psychopathic mass murderer with no empathy. Even after the project was over he had a hard time sleeping and got some prescription sleeping pills and (this is were the news got fuzzy) he either took too many, or took the pills in combination with something else and his heart just failed.

Thanks, <lj user="dgg">
