Compare and Contrast

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Ephesians 6:12

G'Quan wrote, "There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain."

G'Kar, Babylon 5

One last little surprise for you. :)

Goddamn, nearly 15 years on and B5 is still the best show that was ever on TV.

Best TV storytelling I ever saw, and that's saying something coming from an old Trekker like me.

It had real honest-to-g'quan character development, too. Not every problem was wrapped up at the end of the hour, the baddies had actual motives that were deeper than "we like blowing shit up, it's fun!" and, well, the writing was elegant and honest. Really, I'd be a happier person if more TV and movies were written like this.
