Daytime TV
Nov. 13th, 2008 03:47 pmCaught an episode of Doctors. Something I haven't done since I was ill at work. Chaos, how it has changed.
So there's this somewhat assertive doctor, a woman and apparently a pathologist to boot. She's standing in front of what I can describe as a penguin in a shiny waistcoat, and the woman is saying "They day I depend upon a man is the day six of them will be carrying my coffin!"
Oh, the responses that sprang up. I'd have loved to have been the scriptwriter for Doctor Popinjay, because the very next lines should have been:-
"Oh. Well, that can be arranged. *gets out mobile* Let me do some phoning around ..."
and
"I can't get you men. They're all sitting around watching footie on the telly. But we can arrange a detail of six women. Though you might run the risk of ending up being propped up against a wall in the local shopping mall while the pallbearers are busy nearby, window shopping for shoes ..."
Oh, the joy of deflating declarative statements.
Also, Detective Steve Sloan's shit luck with women who turn out to be murderers continues. He never did find a woman he didn't have to arrest, did he?
