Bad News For A4e
May. 29th, 2009 11:10 amAt the time of writing, I'm ok for continued attendance at A4e as part of my ongoing jobseeking.
But today, around 09:45, the staff went on a conference call, where they delivered some dreadful news.
As of October, most of A4e will be out of a job.
Ironic.
Right. Off to t'flat now, and back into town a bit later to sign on.

Interesting Day
May. 29th, 2009 07:19 pmToday was most definitely different. :) After the dreadful news concerning A4e (well, dreadful for the staff at any rate) nobody was motivated to do a damned thing. Not even to keep us on for the rest of our time today. We were let off early - an early release, rather than a parole :)
I offered to give Kayleigh a reading, but she politely declined, stating that that sort of thing "scared her." I informed her that it doesn't scare me. Of course some of the lads there came on with the old "It's all bollocks" spiel, to which I replied "The ability to interpret dreams has been around since the ancient Egyptians; since the first men formed the earliest communities. It's only a jealous Church, not Science, that has sought to destroy the Craft.'
Later, in explaining to the staff that anything is possible between now and October, I called upon a parable of a prisoner who promised his jailer that he would teach his horse to fly. I watched as one or two of the members ran out of the room, as one does if one is a mindless gobshite who can't understand what's happening and why it's happening to one.
The cheap and shallow run from philosophy, but sooner or later everyone turns back to philosophy. Particularly after the P45 or the doctor's results come in.
And later, I had to rush into town again, to sign on. A twenty minute double march through blistering heat, clutching the paperwork in my hand, only to have the whole thing done in less than a minute.
And now I'm back here, finishing off my Ro Focale story and hoping to get to the Fourth Rewrite thing tomorrow.
As stated, it's been one hell of a day. :)
