On This Day
Nov. 24th, 2009 06:42 amToday, on 24 November ...
1434: The River Thames froze over.
1715: The River Thames froze over again.
1859: Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species by Natural Selection. The argument for evolution has been going on for 150 years to this day, and still some people can't accept that we are just mutated plains apes who just happen to have a talent for speech and abstract thought; a mutation which, by sheer accident, gave us a survival edge and turned us into the two-metre macrovirus of a species we are today.
1864: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was born.
1991: Freddie Mercury died of his illness.
And, in 1962, yes that far back, my Mum and Dad got married.
Happy Anniversary, folks. :)
