Nine Years Ago Today ...
Jan. 28th, 2013 12:27 amBritain and the US were making bad decisions back then in 2004, though nowhere near as bad as things are this day and age in 2013. Pluto was still a planet, and the reputations of the celebrities Stuart Hall, Cyril Smith and Jimmy Savile had yet to be tarnished by the scandals they had, to date, managed to avoid.
We were at war with everybody, everybody hated us, Osama bin Laden was still alive, Bush was (and is) a stupid dickhead, and the social media of the day comprised email and blogs, and mostly that was it. If you had something to say, you'd say it here on LJ. LJ hadn't gone through that paedostorm of 2007 when they shut down all those accounts based on nothing but hysteria, so LJ was kind of like the Roman Forum - a place wh€ere everybody who was anybody wanted to be heard, and a place where everybody who was anybody wanted to come and listen.
I lived in the old place, before having to move in late August 2004 to the flat where I currently live. I hadn't had my Architect Dream yet, and back then I only needed one blog for everything.
Since then, of course, my interests have expanded beyond the confines of a single blog ...

Science Fiction and Fantasy - Sadly neglected, this is the blog that formerly belonged to the Chester Library SF & Fantasy readers' club, but which I've now rededicated to my own uses.
My tumblr account, Bagatelle of Randomness - a look at the things that generally get past my blogs and Facebook.
I also have a Facebook and a Twitter account, but I'll not post the links to those here - chances are, you'll be reading the links to this blog from Facebook and Twitter anyway.
Nine years. They may have zipped by some of you, but to me they have felt like the nine longest years of my life.
