My theory is that this POETS Day thing is something of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Yes, some people go home early on a Friday or take the afternoon off, but by no means all. What actually happens is that nobody bothers trying to contact anyone on a Friday afternoon because they don't expect anyone to be available on a Friday afternoon.
