A Parting Thought
Mar. 25th, 2011 11:40 pmOn the Mongoose Publishing Traveller discussion forum, one of the forumites asked a question about the allocation of luxury items in the common space of a starship for the entertainment of the crew. The usual entertainments were mentioned - video games, arcade games, slots, the usual machine crap typical of a generation without a shred of social contact in their culture - but I threw in something that should have made their hair stand on end.
I described the characters, in the Traveller roleplaying game, sitting down with dice and gaming books, playing the Traveller roleplaying game.
So far, nobody has thought of the potential for infinite mathematical recursion here, not to mention the sheer existential horror of an infinite number of chargens they'll have to come up with.
Some people, eh?
