Just tuned in to an episode of ITV's detective drama Lewis, the spinoff from Morse. Girl found dead, all tied up, and they catch sight of her bondage photos from her hacked mobile phone.

And once more we join the cops as they descend into their own very small, very narrow little Uncanny Valleys.

Pitiful cop shows.

Yes, but I've found that in modern media, there is still far more respect for BDSM than there is any other interest or kink. In all shows that I've seen where the "bad guy" can potentially be someone into BDSM, you see a very condescending "lesson" coming from other BDSMers to point out that they're not all bad.

However, in the case of comic book lovers and tabletop roleplayers? They're all portrayed as people on the verge of losing their minds, and even when you see the ones who aren't the "killers," they're still treated as goofy simpletons who must be humored but ridiculed behind their backs. It's the same with people who are furries. You never see BDSMers being humored but ridiculed. You see them respected by the end of the show.

I call bullshit on that.
