The Unlikeliest Thing ...
Mar. 4th, 2005 02:00 pmI think I'm addicted to, of all things, Desperate Housewives.
There hasn't been a show like this on since Twin Peaks. I can't, for the life of me, imagine why I'm addicted to the show, but there you are. I've avoided shows like this like the plague, but one moment of weakness, and this one managed to sink its hooks into me.
It isn't Smallville; it isn't Point Pleasant or The 4400 or Battlestar Galactica. There's no androids, phasers, spaceships, computers, sorcery, psionic powers or creatures that drink blood. So what could possibly draw my attention to the show?
Death.
Murder, violence, brutality, suffering and more murder. Betrayal.
Oh, and Teri Hatcher stark naked in the undergrowth.
That alone might have sold it for me.
Perhaps.

Date: 2005-03-06 12:31 am (UTC)But once in a while, you see that she has a moment in which she is actually in the right about something (such as, oh, if you drive a car drunk and you run over someone, you should be feeling some remorse, not just cackle with undisguised glee that you got your folks to cover for you, ensuring that you got away with it ...) But for the most part, ye gods what a cow.
So yeah, I love Bree. Without her, the show wouldn't be half as fun to watch as it is.
Ah, but The Box. With all those human remains in them ...
