For reasons known only to me, but quite possibly relating to Gerry Anderson's passing yesterday (2012 12 26), I've been digging up material regarding Space: 1999. Some of it is relevant to the roleplaying game Traveller, where on the Mongoose Publishing forum there is a lively discussion on how to stat up the setting for the roleplaying game. Things such as the mass of an Eagle Transporter (328 tons) and its top speed (15% of lightspeed).
And then I stumbled upon the iMDB entry for the actress who played "Maya," the Psychon shapeshifter in season 2 of Space: 1999, namely Catherine Schell - an actress on whom Ihad have one hell of a crush.
Whereupon I encountered this passage.
She was the first actress considered for the role of Captain Kathryn Janeway in "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995). However Canadian actress Geneviève Bujold was cast in that role, only to resign after two days of filming because she was not used to the demands of a weekly TV series. The role finally went to American actress Kate Mulgrew, a seasoned actress.
Good Grud damn. Imagine. Just imagine, Catherine Schell in Star Trek: Voyager for seven years.
Damn, I'd have been riveted to the screen.
