You remember the recession hitting us for the first time, and the advert breaks were filled with ads for people saying they would give you cash for your gold? They don't have those kinds of ads any more, because the market's dried up - nowadays, of course, it's all about payday loans and those legalised loan sharks who have an ear in parliament - but that's not what I'm talking about today.
I just saw a food ad ... for leftovers.
The message from the collective consciousness finally filtered through. Amid the usual diarrohea spray of glut and excess I saw an ad where the spokesman was saying "Okay, well since some of you might not know where your next meal is going to be coming from ..."
I wonder if there'll be other such "make do and mend" food ads, as well as similar ads for repairing clothes, furniture and so on?
