My Folks' Wedding Anniversary Today
Nov. 24th, 2006 02:21 pmThe other day, I was putting coffee into two mugs for my Mum and Dad, in the kitchen.
I'd bought them those mugs for Dad's and Mum's birthdays. They were identical, save for Mum's - she'd kept the little paper label on at the base, so she could know which was which.
That day, when preparing the coffee, I noticed that the label had fallen off her mug. I showed it to her.
'Now you'll not be able to tell them apart,' I told her.
'Not to worry,' Mum replied. 'Your Dad and I'll not mind drinking from each other's cups, because we are one.'
They got wed 44 years ago today. Some time earlier this year, to the day Dad took Mum out on their first date back in the Welsh village of Nant Gwrtheyrn, they saw a TV documentary on that little enclave of Welshness on the North Wales coast.
What else can I say here, but Happy Anniversary, folks!
