Gaps Between Entries ...
Sep. 16th, 2004 06:27 pmOkay, the last time I wrote here, I was just moving into the flat. Everything was just starting to get on top of me, and I didn't want to jinx anything by speaking prematurely about any of it.
Since things have been taking so damn long to get resolved, it has been one hell of a long time since my last blog.
Well, that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.
Problems have included:
1) Benefits: The Department of Social Security recently stopped my Jobseeker's Allowance. I can't go into details right now, because it's still ongoing. Anyhow, the paperwork's been in place for me to get a different kind of benefit, based on the fact that these past few months, my asthma has been killing me. Stress would do that, and all. Anyhow, it looks as if there are changes afoot, and wheels are being set in motion which will result in my finally getting some sort of benefits in, after all. This is good, because I've otherwise no way of paying any of the utility bills for my flat (see below).
2) New flat: An absolute joy to me. This new place is, during the evenings and early mornings, quiet. I've decided that I'm better off without a TV, so I spend my days and (most of my) nights there, working on stuff, generally advancing my story and now developing an online interactive forum game for the World of Darkness on the Ex Libris Nocturnis site.
3) Diet: The change in my circumstances has radically altered my dietary needs. I'm getting noticeably thinner every day, and people are starting to take notice. Hopefully, I'll be thin enough to pass muster on October 28, when I go and see the dietician. I'm not doing this for her, for Mum, or even so I can pick up women. I'm getting shot of the excess paunch just because I'll feel better, and look better, wearing my customary black.
4) ISP: On Monday last (13 September), I began to have problems with my ISP, mostly to do with the fact that they kept shutting me down after just 30 minutes online. Today, after an urgent email requesting help from Tiscali, I'm looking at my connection counter timer. It reads "59:50" andcounting. That's minutes and seconds. Let's see if this goes the whole 2 hours before it shuts down like before. Otherwise, I'd be wondering what I was spending nearly twenty quid a month on.
5) Relationships: Still single. Still not working on it. Still unconcerned one little bit. Though these days, women are stopping to talk to me slightly more often. Could be due to entry 3) above. I do not know.
6) Conventions: Last Saturday, 11 September, I attended a gaming convention at the Gladstone Hotel, Liverpool. Well, it was an eye-opener. I've not been to a 'con for lo, these many years, and it felt like coming home. More detailed, albeit belated, report to follow.
And that is it so far. Hopefullly, the events of today will mean that my problems are on their way to being resolved, and I can look forward to having less intractable future problems to come.
