[livejournal.com profile] frandowdsofa just posted to comment on a dreadful ITV1 quiz show, Goldenballs, hosted by Jasper Carrott OBE.

Yes. Honest. The Brummie's got an Obe. Who knew?

Anyway, there's a link to his official site, if you want to post your condolences at the death of Jasper's career.

And now here's the list I posted to [livejournal.com profile] frandowdsofa, detailing the rungs of the descending ladder of one's spiralling career, from the beginning of the end to the bottom of the barrel, and one dishonourable mention which you get when you go poking straight through the bottom of the barrel and start scraping at the floor beneath:

1 - Any daytime TV chat show
2 - Friday Night with Jonathan Ross
3 - Celebrity Big Brother
4 - I'm A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here!
5 - Any other celebrity reality show e.g. Love Island, The Farm
6 - Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? celebrity special
7 - The Weakest Link celebrity special
8 - Children In Need, Comic Relief, any other fundraiser
9 - Any other quiz show with celeb panellists; panellist
10 - Any quiz show with members of the public.

Once you get to 10, it's the end of the line. Or a new beginning, if you're Nick Hancock.

I must also add 11 - a photoshoot with the Prime Minster or President of the United States. Hardly feels like a career low for the celeb, but trust me ... if your need to be famous is such that you're having to be seen with the Prime Minister you're wretched because the PM / POTUS is generally held to be lower than whale flop.

Works for "being seen with the Beckhams / Tom Cruise / Michael Barrymore / Keith Chegwin" etc.

Right. As you were.

... actually, today it's "Tales From The Flat." I've got an appointment with the gas company inspector. He's coming tomorrow to check my boiler.

It's supposed to be August. Last year it was march. This year it's January. He's going to have to wait twelve months for the next one, isn't he?

Failing that, if there's another one this year I'll have to take it up with the company. Two checks in one year is wasteful.

This will come as a bit of a shock to many of you, but Heath Ledger's been found dead in New York. The news just broke on Teletext in the UK, and here on Yahoo News:-

Heath Ledger Dead

AFP - 6 minutes ago

NEW YORK (AFP) - Australian-born actor Heath Ledger, 28, the co-star of the movie "Brokeback Mountain," was found dead in his New York residence on Tuesday, police said.

"Heath Ledger was found dead at 3:26 pm this afternoon," a police spokesperson said, saying he was found in his residence in the posh district of Soho. "We don't know the cause of the death."

The entertainment website TMZ said Heath was discovered by a maid in his bed in his Manhattan apartment, adding that "law enforcement sources ... believe it was not a crime."

Supper tonight was noodles, served without the usual chicken stock, and broad beans. I wanted to know what unflavoured noodles tasted like.

Actually, rather good. I'll probably do them like that again next time, likely adding some sort of fresh vegetation to it.

[livejournal.com profile] naaila, remember Wagamama's? :)

Oh, and before I sign off, today I scored a load of Co-Q10 (currently 30mg ones sell in bottles of 50 at £2.89, meaning that 150 of them can be bought more cheaply than a bottle of 100 of the same dosage). I also bought some 75mg Co-Q10s. 30 of them, £4.24.

I'm sticking to the regular 30mg ones for now, but when I want extra performance, I'll just drop one of the 75mg giants and see what effect that has on my energy levels. :)

Thanks to Nigel Stapley for tonight's musical entertainment. I've been looking for the Tomorrow People theme for some time. :)
