Something that was spoken last night, at the competition, piqued my interest. I have some phone numbers and email addresses, and I am pursuing an interesting line of enquiry.

Can't say very much more at this point, because I really don't want to jinx things right now. I'm going to make a phone call at about 15:45 or so.

Enough time to cook up some noodles for my tea.

Imagine.

There's the priest, at the pulpit, with the congregation sitting down, eagerly listening to his every word. He gestures, says "Please stand." Everyone complies.

"Let us pray," he says, bowing his head down. Everyone follows likewise.

Then there's an uncomfortable and awkward silence. A couple of heads peer up. Then more. They see the priest standing there, eyes scrunched, pinched-looking face going red from the strain.

And suddenly, there's this deep, echoing voice from the priest's mouth, intoning:-

"Failure to establish connection to remote location. Trying again in five seconds ..."

I just had a long chat with a Dr Richard Dover of Glyndwr University.

Well ... if things work out, one or both of the following outcomes may ensue:-

1. I may become involved in writing an official blog for Glyndwr;

2. I may be going back to university to participate in a course on writing.

There will be further conversations with the Marketing Department of Glyndwr, not to mention hopefully further emails and conversations with Dr Dover, but ... well, wish me luck in getting this thing underway.

It might not be the job I was after, but it's better than sitting on my haunches doing nothing all day!

I think I'd have to fill them in on so much, it'd be better to just tell them to jump in at the deep end.

However, in summary, my life can only be described as "eccentric." If you don't know what an eccentric lifestyle looks like, just bookmark this page and watch as the weirdness unfolds all about me like a blossoming fractal flower.

And if it's all too much for you, and the confusion is getting to you, well perhaps it isn't that you are going insane.

It could be your brain adjusting to becoming as sane as I am.

The following is the text of the email announcement sent out by the Wrexham Science Festival committee, announcing the winners and other competitors who participated in the 2009 Wrexham Science Festival.

Not all the competitors could manage to attend the ceremony. Those who did, however, enjoyed the event considerably. Myself included.

Here is the text and the list:-

Wrexham Science Festival 2009 Competition

What’s in Space? A Journey Beyond Earth

Wrexham Science Festival would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who entered this year’s competition. Entries rocketed in from all over planet Earth, and the volume and standard was outstanding. Our judges had a really tough time choosing the winners, but eventually settled on the list that you can find at the bottom of this email. Details of prizes will be sent to all winners who were not able to collect their prize in person at the Wrexham Science Festival Launch yesterday evening.

All entries will be available to view on the Wrexham Science Festival website within the next few weeks – www.wrexhamsf.com. Unfortunately we will not be able to return every entry, but they will be available to collect from Glyndŵr University between Monday 6th April and Friday 17th April.

I have had in mind an idea for a Ro Focale story with a difference. The difference is, it's a crossover with a SF TV show franchise.

You will know which franchise, from the very first paragraph ...
