Descent into the Valley of the Cliche
Apr. 5th, 2009 12:34 pmPicture the scene.
It's the workplace. I'm standing around with a lot of other office workers. One of my colleagues has just come in, and she's bouncing around the room with excitement.
"I just got engaged!" she exclaims, and shows off the ring on her hand for the workers to admire.
Me, I'm looking at the ring closely. "These are diamonds in this central cluster, right?"
"Yes!" she squeals. "And a ring of sapphires around it, and topaz around the edge!"
I look up and stare at everyone. "Which means this might have come off our killer."
I should stop falling asleep in front of American TV cop shows ...

nyghtshayde, you're excused. It's your birthday. You should've been out celebrating, not welded to your monitor screen. :) J., too.
Never mind. I am off to bed. I wrote 2,900 words in a brand new story today, and laid down the framework for another one to follow. And tomorrow, it'll be the Fourth Rewrite and, most likely, the Ro Focale story which shall grab my attention, and claim the word quota for the day.
Night night.
Damn.
