The Klingon Abstract Project
Mar. 27th, 2010 11:07 amSo I posted the Klingon translation of the abstract, along with my workings, last night. This morning I received the following reply from the scientist who'd requested the translation. Here's what he said:-
Hi Alex,
thank you very, very much for all your help and your efforts! :-) I have already included your name among my section of acknowledgments to honor your generous contribution.
The work-arounds are impressive - you really have mastered this text!
You have significantly contributed to the quality of my thesis and made its contents available for people that are fond of this special language!
Even if this is not the first scientific text that was translated into Klingon it certainly will be the first abstract in this language in a PhD thesis from this university! :-)
Please let all the people from the mailing list - that were involved in this project - know my gratitude as well.
Once again thank you very, very much!
Best wishes and greetings from Munich and all the best for the future,
Out of courtesy, I will wait until publication of the article to print out the Klingon portion of the abstract. PM me or email, if you want to see the German, English, Welsh(!) and Klingon translations of the abstract for yourselves.
The Welsh translation is mighty impressive. I've learned a ton about Cymraeg just reading that part of the abstract alone.
You're welcome, Dr Betz.
