Voice of Apocalypse
Apr. 16th, 2010 08:02 pmRecently,
innocent_man posted a series of articles under the title "curse the darkness." It was a kind of apocalyptic scenario involving every shadow on Earth coming to life, They coming out of The Between, and this dreadful, terrible Voice coming at everyone from every shady, dark patch in the world.
Being me, I decided to have some fun, and I recited the words of the entity's speech into my voice recorder in the stairwell, where I was guaranteed a really good echo.
Here's His speech from Matt's blog:-
This is the end of your world. This is what will become of ideology. How many lives lost over the centuries for this place, which you now see is so impermanent? No more lives lost for Jerusalem, not after tonight, not ever again.
Have your riots. Convene your armies. Launch your missiles. Rant, rail, gnash your teeth. I will allow you that, for you need time to grieve your world. But when I speak to you again, know that it will be as your authority. You will do what I say to do, or They will come for you from the Between.
There is no question. There is no debate. There is no compromise. There is only the world and the whole of humanity.

This has been a week of thoughts of enchantment, of sorcery, of the deepest sciences.
I discovered - should I say, rediscovered - the inspiration behind Zero Company from World of Darkness: Dogs of War, namely the First Earth Battalion. Also known as "The Men Who Stare At Goats."
I guess my beloved Zero Company got kind of set aside by skeptical WoD fans, little realising that what I called Zero COmpany is actually tame compared to the real thing.
And I am about to wrap up this week with some inspired creativity, as I return to my fantasy novel. I've finally worked out how the story moves on. It begins with a broken window and a visitor. It ends ... ah, but there's the rub. You will have to wait till I've put the story into words, and the words into a book, and the book on your screen or your bookshelf. :)
The greatest feeling, though, has been of vindication - vindication for my Zero Company, and for my chapter of Dogs of War - because the weird shit I wrote about in my book is tame in comparison to what real military forces have got up to.
