Gaah

I just woke up from a dreadful dream.

I found myself sitting in a car accompanied by two women. I sat alone in the rear passenger seat. Both women sat in the front seats.

In the dream, the road along which we drove led homewards through some village surrounded by lovely green countryside. Behind us, two Apache helicopters came out of nowhere and began attacking one another as some sort of exercise. We tried fleeing, but ahead of us more military vehicles had arrived and cut us all off; a helicopter flying beneath the arch of an overhead railway bridge, followed by an oncoming tank.

We swerved wildly, and ditched the car on the grass on the right of the bridge to avoid the oncoming helicopter and tank, ducking for cover. Then I woke up.

I'd gone to bed for about 23:00. The dream woke me up at 04:30. I'd slept maybe five and a half hours.

And I'll never know which unit won the damned exercise.

June 6th just gone held a special place in my family. Dad turned eighty on Sunday.

Yes, eighty, and still just as spry as he ever was. :)

However, it holds a sad memory for Mum also: on June 6th, 1980s, her own Dad passed. My Dad missed out on his fiftieth birthday on that day, and everybody regrets that. Hence the need to make up for it this Sunday just gone.

At this point, I have to tell you that Taid had a special fondness for robins (Erithacus rubecula). He loved those little red and brown birds, and in the family we always associate robins with Taid's presence nearby.

So when I tell you that, as my sister, her fiance and I made our way along towards the restaurant we had booked for Dad's birthday bash, I spotted a robin as plain as day standing in my path, you can probably understand how I felt.

I can hear sounds coming from the back of the flat. The plumber came earlier today to replace the sink and bath unit in the bathroom. I have a feeling that completion of their work approaches. I hope for some freedom, soon - or at least for a resumption of the water supply so that I can go to the toilets. *gaah*

Monumentally funny - at least it was to me. :)

Every now and then, I delve into this strip.

"Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb."
