Queuing

I find queuing in shops, the local Co-op in particular, to be a frustrating waste of time. I don't care if it is the British national pastime. We have no time to waste standing in line, waiting for some dumb trainee shop person to run someone's lottery card through three times because they couldn't get it right the first time.

Before the customer pays for it with her credit card.

So I think that next time I'm there I'm bringing a rubber spider with me, and I'm dumping it in among the bananas. That ought to shorten the queue somewhat.

It's amazing how authentic some of the rubber spiders you can get from joke shops are....

...Not that I've ever - um - put on in someone's hotel room for a joke to hear the - um - screams or anything... ;D

Even worse are the new self-checkout terminals at Boots: they constantly go on the blink and scan things twice or come up with bizarre error messages, so some spotty little oik has to come and re-scan your box of tampax/packet of condoms, and you wish you'd just queued at the till instead.

*wicked evil grin*

Or, if it were me, I'd be accosting the nearest passing spotty little oik and asking him, in a clear voice, to manually "scan these damned rubbers through the stupid machine for me, please?" just to see their faces go all sorts of colours.

Because, you know, I'm shameless. I'm the sort of shopper who stands around the fruit and vegetable counter looking thoughtfully at the courgettes whilst holding a tube of K-Y jelly in one hand and a pot of honey in the other.
