Getting To A4e This Morning

You know, I've got an alarm. I have set it for 06:00, and I usually get up at that time, more or less regularly. It just makes more sense to have a regular time to wake up.
This morning, with an 09:00 deadline to get to A4e to resume my job searching, I heeded the alarm. I kind of woke up, looked at it, noted the time.
When I opened my eyes again, it was close on 08:00.
I managed to get a bit of a wash and to fling some clothes on - no time to shave! - and began the long walk into town, at around 08:40 or so. Damn my OCD: I could have made it out the door by 08:30, were it not for my constant need to check everything. Doors locked; sockets turned off; Lucy sitting on the table (remember that about this time a year ago, my poor memory cost me Lucy's predecessor camera, so I'm naturally paranoid about losing this one); everything else in its place.
Takes ages to get out of my house for a simple sojourn into town.
Anyhow, I made it as far as the bus stop outside of the former Kwik Save, about a five minute walk and still twenty minutes from the centre of town which is where I ought to be for my 09:00 start ... when damn me, the 7 bus comes along, itself ten minutes late.
So I made it into town right on time.
So here I am. My right ear is clogged; I haven't had a shave; I feel as if I last slept Saturday night, and I'm wearing the same clothes I was in yesterday. I look scruffy; I feel scruffy, groggy and gripey; and I really do not feel sexy.
Which is the perfect time for a gorgeous woman to be sitting right next to me. Right now, I couldn't impress her if I looked like Karl Urban. (And even with this black coffee down me, I can't even bring myself to try ...)
Life is wonderful. But right now ... "When you are up to your topknots in tribbles, it is easy to forget that your original mission was to poison the grain."
