Dear employers.

You don't really know me. At all.

So how the Hell do you know what I am capable of, or whether or not I will do better or worse for your company than some other, younger, greener, less experienced, perhaps less literate and certainly less capable, candidates?

I hope you don't take it personally. They really don't know you. But they don't know the other candidates either.

All they have to go on is a CV / application form.

They are not making a judgement on you as a person, or even your actual capabilities as a employee, just on that bit of paper, since it is all they can see.

The only other way I can see would be to take every one on for a short trial, and then pick the best after that. Which would be fairer, but really time consuming for the business and the unsuccessful candidates.

Thanks. At least I have the opportunity to submit feedback on the employer to the website that put the vacancy up in the first place. Presumably to verify that the job being advertised is real, and that employers are really taking people on.

An employer really has no control over what a rejected candidate says, do they? :)

hehehe Employers are like one night stands. They screw you around, you roll over and fall asleep, and they've gone off to grab a pizza and you never see them again.
