Bittersweet Anniversary

fiat_knoxI just discovered that on this day, back in 1879, in Utica, NY, F W Woolworth opened the first ever Woolworth's store.
If the stores had not been shut down earlier this year, in its planned assassination by certain vested interests, it would have celebrated its 130th anniversary today.
Yesterday, the "last" Pic'n'Mix bag of sweets bought at Woolworths sold on eBay for thousands of pounds.
Indeed, a sad anniversary today.
