I spent today reacquainting myself with JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets, mostly because I felt the need to brush up on both of these technologies, keep the saw sharpened.
Something I haven't done in a while was using event handlers in a link: using the 'onMouseover' and 'onMouseout' events to, say, alter the source of a graphic being rolled over. Creating a basic document, looking up the code (the example I wrote alters the "document.body.background" property to alter the background image on rolling over a link) and testing it in the browser was immensely satisfying, and reminded me of the fun I had learning the rollover trick for the first time whilst working with LDRA in Liverpool, all of ten years ago.
That's the thing, though, isn't it? Nobody believes me when I tell them I have real qualifications and practical experience at doing things like this.
Or perhaps they do believe me, and they fear the thought that I might rise up from nowhere and supplant them with superior knowledge and capability, which is a distinct possibility.
*sigh* Carry on.
