A Day To Bury Bad News

I figured this would happen. Someone in Downing Street decided to pull their reserve news article and tell one of the heirs that his marriage to some girl was now to be given the official go ahead.
A pity. They should have waited until there was something worth burying, like a mud landslide that buries a village or a nuclear explosion that irradiates the Home Counties or similar.
Instead, while you're supposed to be cooing and gasping in awe at the forthcoming Royal nuptials, feast your eyes on the following news items, rather.
Cops gather in Manchester to discuss cuts in their numbers
Compensation to Gitmo detainees was necessary (note: I have put no quotes around "necessary")
Eurozone must "resist alarmism"
Cameron warns on child carer cuts
Construction firm Rok cuts further 1,800 jobs as sale attempt fails
'Spacetime cloak' could act as 'Star Trek transporter'
Any time I hear of a slow news day event like the Royal Wedding announcement, I'll go and dredge through the news to look for any bad news the press have been told to bury. And I'll bring it up here.
This is the definition of a "rakehell:" someone who rakes the fires of Hell so they'll burn hotter. In this case, for those under whose bottoms the fires have specifically been lit.
