Today turned out a kind of "fit of giggles" kind of day.

The fit of giggles bit when I heard this wedding photographer guy tell me of the disasters he'd had to try and salvage, like the wedding group photo where, just as the shutters clicked, some car backfired off to one side - and the photo turned out with the entire group, as one, with their heads turned to the right or something.

Still chokes me up. Never mind that I cannot laugh in my current condition.

I also made people fall about laughing with my T shirt, the "I am not obsessive" one. I ought to take a photo of it and put it on display some time.

When I got to the Chester SF & Fantasy Readers group, in time for 14:00 (I'd come into Chester a little earlier, so I could enjoy a bit of a shop) the group had started to arrive early, namely John Oakes and our leader, Bernard.

This month, with the theme of First Contact being the topic of the day, we nonetheless had to make our plans for the rest of this year. (In doing so, we came up with sufficient material for next year as well).

I think we did well enough with the topic, but I'd have loved it if one or two of us had had enough courage to actually do us a reading of the books they'd read. I wanted someone to come up with a reading of "Nor Crystal Tears," because for all that I had read Methuselah's Children by Heinlein, Clarke's Rendezvous With Rama and his 2001 Odyssey series, and the Alan Dean Foster Humanx books, I did not have them with me to read from.

Next month, Post - Apocalypse, I'll give them a reading. Hell with it. Same deal for April - the theme of Psi powers is just something I absolutely will have to give them a reading on.

I'll leave you tonight with the knowledge that I have done my bit to screw with minds, as is my sworn duty. I spotted these Sex and The City 2 books sitting on a remainder shop bookshelf, prominently perches in the front display in a desperate and vain attempt to get them moving off the shelves. I noticed a book on dogs nearby, titled simply "Dogs," and just ... put them together ...

Night night.
