Two Days Ago, They Laughed Up Their Sleeves ...

When this news was the main headline on Thursday, the TV newsreaders laughed up their sleeves, and even my Mum was wont to say "I'm not surprised he's laughing."

Yesterday, those who sneered woke up to this news.

Apparently, the weathermen were talking about the rain dumping two months' worth of precipitation, in the space of just 24 hours, all over the UK.

Don't laugh up your bloody sleeves again at magicians.

Waterstone's Today

Up to their eyeballs in customers, doing a roaring trade in just one book, plus a shitload of spinoff merch. Kids everywhere, a veritable plague of them, and owls. Gorgeous, inscrutable, vicious owls.

One of them, a Snowy Owl, was waiting outside perched on its mobile perch (what we'd call a "human"). It was panting. I thought only dogs panted, because they don't have sweat glands: turns out dogs aren't the only species, and poor old Spectre had been wilting underneath the hot lights of the interior.

Inside, among the staff was young Wiccan Goth girl Kayleigh, dressed very witchily. I said "Working clothes again?" - she took it in the good spirits I had intended, which is fair.

And yes, I did get a copy of the book. I got my nephew a copy of the last book when it came out, too - he hasn't finished Book Six yet, but it's an incentive for him to finish that book so he can crack on and find out how it all ends.

Told a few people of the new girl in my life. Damn, I can't believe how I got some jealous looks from people. I never knew they fancied me, because by God they never said - and now it's too late. I'm still feeling dreamy even now, thinking of Naaila.

Anyway, I've topped up one phone, my batteries just died on the other, I've got printouts of song lyrics for Mum and the photo Naaila sent me.

So that's my day's duties taken care of. I'll linger around here for a bit, think of eyes, a smile, snap myself back here, then go out and soak up some more of the good vibes I've been getting all day from town.

Off to write some Saucy Love Letters and Stuff

I've got to get my head back. I have to drop by the folks just now, bearing gifts and things.

Meantime, I'll be spending the night writing amorous passages for this new love in my life, Naaila, to reveal to her slowly over time.

The rest of today and tomorrow, I should be AFK - I hope the credits don't burn out on my mobile before the batteries do while I'm waiting for Monday.

Anyway, off to collect my printouts, including the naughty stuff I just emailed Naaila.
