I don't generally think much about the movie Shrek. But I caught a quote from Mike Myers, who plays Shrek's voice, and this si what he has to say:-
"And I loved the whole idea behind the story, which is that you're beautiful, so don't let other people tell you that you're not just because you don't look like the people in magazines."
This would also apply to someone like me, a 45 y.o. man, being able to have a conversation with a younger woman, aged say 20. Hells, even when a conversation with a 22 y.o. girl has left me feeling emotionally reeling, I've always enjoyed the thrill of the conversation with someone who is quite happy to talk with someone like me.
My ex, Nai, fell in love with me because of the age gap: she will be, I believe, 27 this year - some time in August, I believe.
A twenty years old person is a full adult in the eyes of the law. Someone who can choose to sleep with any adult he, or she, likes, no matter how old that adult might be.
My point being, even when I was the twenty year old, and the woman I was with was older, I never cared about any age gap.
And this is just where romance is concerned. If the relationship is supposed to be professional, based on friendship with no sexual overtones or emotional attachments, no rules apply. It's normal for 20 y.o. people to talk business with 45 y.o. people.
Gaah. Anyways, I'm back home, and I have been writing an article for Traveller to be submitted as soon as I've edited it to my satisfaction. I'm going to be hungry tonight: I've not got cash to go shopping for food, so all I have is noodles and herbal tea.
You'll be able to post me through a standard sized letter box slot by Wednesday. :)
