I came, I saw, I baked in the sun. :) Bloody. Marvellous. I love Madchester.
There was a slight hitch in my travel plans when, to my dismay, I realised I'd left my camera behind. I paid my water bill, came back to get the camera and then I was away again.
The day went well. The sun was glorious. Went into Fan Boy 3 to get something WoD, and found ... Traveller.
Classic Traveller. Marc Miller's original, with Loren K Wiseman in the credits. It's been thoroughly reworked for the 21st Century, with a few misprints ... but some of the concepts have been reworked successfully.
Computers are now measured in grams and maybe kilograms, not in tons. If your character fails the Survival roll, he or she isn't killed. Just maybe a mishap occurs and they get drummed out of their force and reduced to Drifting, perhaps with Enemies or Rivals.
There are other occupations beside the five hierarchical forces (Army, Navy, Marines, Scouts, Merchant Marine) - and not "Other". Characters can have occupations like Scholar or Entertainer. If they're willing to pursue a career in Psionics, they can choose the "Psion" optional occupation and enjoy a really weird lifestyle.
:) Sounds like my kind of fun.
Anyway, that's the gaming news of the day as far as I'm concerned. But it wasn't the only news of the day. It was a time for me to go and get some photos taken of parts of the town I hadn't been to yet. I'll look into putting them up onto the photo album of, say, Facebook or Friendster. I need a place to put these photos, and one of my social networking sites seems just the ticket.
Oh, and later on I bought myself a microphone to go with my voice / digital sound recorder. Now I really feel professional. I can interview people, record birdsong and ambient sounds ... this is going to be great.
Ah,and according to White Wolf's latest Quarterly, World of Darkness: Dogs of War is due for release early this Summer, quite possibly June or July. :)
