Training Rechargeable Batteries

You know that you're supposed to let rechargeable batteries charge up to full capacity about four or five times and then let them run out so they can get set at their maximum full and empty capacity, right? Well, with a digital camera it always bothered me that there was no way that I could do this quickly and efficiently, so I'd have trained batteries up and running in the minimum time.
I just bought a torch, and I'm using that to run my fresh batteries down for the four or five times I need to set their storage capacities.
Has anyone else had similar experiences with their rechargeables? How have you handled them?
