Dream From Last Week

This dream comes from one week ago. It's one of those dreams I occasionally have in which I recall every single detail on waking.
I was in a school. Outside the sun was shining in the playground, but there was a huge display on. Apparently, kids from all the local schools had been drawn in to perform in this display.
Basically, each school had organised a dance troupe of kids. Each troupe had its own uniform, comprising a grey unitard with an oversized sweatshirt. Each school's sweatshirt was a different bright colour, and all the kids from each school wore the same colour of sweatshirt - yellow for one school, blue for another school, green, red, orange and so on.
On each sweatshirt was one image, specifically an image of something considered fearsome and frightening. Mice, spiders, the number 13. One troupe just had a sweatshirt design comprising a single eye, its iris bright blue. That one belonged to a school whose sweatshirt was yellow.
Each school had its own dance style, too. The one with the yellow shirts sang a song which only had the word "Eyes" (others had a song with just "Spiders" and so on) and they were doing a Riverdance - style routine. Other troupes were doing breakdancing or line dancing elsewhere on the playing field.
And then the final act came along. And these guys stole the show.
Unlike the other schools, who'd hand picked their best dancers, about a dozen kids from each school, to represent theirs - this last school had drafted the entire school. Four hundred children.
And they all appeared on the edge of the playing field, standing in rows ... in the uniforms of Roman soldiers. With real weapons.
I woke up before they began to march upon the other schools. A shame. It would have been glorious.

Date: 2009-07-16 08:04 am (UTC)The place was surrounded by trees, and the sun shone down from the right. It was the afternoon, so I knew that I was, in fact, more or less facing south.
And those Roman soldiers appearing in ranks off to the left, forming that living shield wall like that, were awesome. :D
