I've been enjoying the latest Traveller supplement, Civilian Vehicles. Some of the vehicles are truly inspired. I'll list my favourites here:-

Driller (p. 30) - aka The Mole from Thunderbirds
Dune Buggy (p. 31)
Land Yacht (p. 35)
Steam Car (p. 44)
Steam Train (p. 45)
Wagon (p. 49)
Cargo Lifter (straight out of Aliens - "Get away from her, you BITCH!") (p. 50)
G/Bike (p. 56)
Grav Train (p. 58)
Aeroplane (the pic shows biplanes!) (p. 65)
Dirigible (p. 68)
Hang Glider (p. 69)
Skycar (aka Scaramanga's flying car from the James Bond movie "The Man with The Golden Gun") (p. 71)
Airboat (aka those boats you see plying the bayou in shows such as CSI: Miami) (p. 75)
Caravel (a genuine old sailing ship) (p. 76)
River Steamboat (like those old Mississippi steamboats) (p. 86)
Landship (a sailing ship rigged with wheels so it can go onto land) (p. 92)

And to think that all they can do is whine about the graphics on the Mongoose fora. This book has some truly ingenious designs, and most importantly I find myself now wanting to try my hand out at creating some designs for vehicles of my own now.

Be aware as mentioned on forums that the Military Vehicles book does NOT update the rules presented in Civilian Vehicles. It gives you the same rules but with some military designs added on the back.

That saying it's not bad but I'll only be getting one of the two as a pdf whereas I'd normally buy a pdf for every deadtree MongTrav product I get.

I am intrigued that it is now possible to create military vehicles based on the design mechanics in Civilian Vehicles.

One could use the design mechanic to design a wooden hulled Man-O'War sailing ship, build up an armada of them and run an old-fashioned sea battle or some such conflict.

Or an armada of landships, for an unusual take on piracy on a low-tech "lost" world of barbarian tribes.

In any case, I think I'll be able to get a lot out of this one book alone, even if I never buy the second book now.
