This morning, I awoke at around 9:10 and had to throw away all of my plans for today. My plan had been to get up at a decent hour, come into town, print out some copies of my business card (at the very least) and attend the media fair in William Aston Hall.

"A decent hour" meant "seven o'clock."

I was going to go to the bank with a chunk of cash from the Royal Bank of Sock to fill my bank account with, such as it is, and then head on up on the 09:45 to catch my friend at the library - she having cancelled yesterday's meeting due to unforeseen circumstances.

A note to the skeptical: unforeseen circumstances happen all the time, even to clairvoyants. Particularly to clairvoyants, because those with The Sight take pains not to turn it upon themselves. Can you imagine a world where everybody knows the exact date, time and circumstances of their death, or at the very least every injury, slight and new enemy they made or ever will make or have?

So when some moron comments "Oh, she didn't see that coming" every time a professional clairvoyant stubs her toe, the answer is "No more than you can see the day you die, you idiot."

Aren't you glad, by the way, and I'm referring to any skeptics who might be reading this blog, that you know with certainty that you are as mortal as those of us with a mystical bent? No, that fatalistic knowledge doesn't comfort us any more than you. But it is, nonetheless, true - which is why those with The Sight don't want to look at their own lives. We already know what will happen, just as certainly as those with more logical minds.

Where was I? Ah, yes, the unforeseen circumstances that had brought my entire day to a screaming halt before it had even begun. So, somewhat hastily, I got myself dressed, prepped, tooled up and out the door. I barely made it to the library at the college in time to meet my friend.

The reason for this meeting was simple. She needed a hand with a scanner in the library. Believe me when I tell you that, with this model of scanner, it was as much of an experience for meas it was for her. As scanners go, I have used far better models.

The computer next to the one we were using was enjoying a long rest from functionality. People would come, look at the frozen screen, and stumble away weeping and wailing and gnashing their teeth wander away scratching their heads.

So my friend enjoyed using the scanner, after I'd used it the first few times to show her. So while she was scanning her documents and converting them into PDF format - an essential function for any scanner these days - I went over to the moribund computer.

You know, if there is one thing I am really, really good at, it's finding out the reset buttons on computers. Often, they're running somebody else's program, and I just have to look at the damned things and BOOM - reset.

I reset the terminal. Cue glad tidings all around, and a swarm of students jumping at the chance to use the freshly - revived terminal. Just one more public duty.

Next, more musings with my friend and perhaps something about the media fair and my personal reason for coming to Glyndwr College today.
