If I was working, I'd rejoice for Saturdays.

I had to make a phone call yesterday, but I had to defer it because yesterday was POETS Day - Piss Off Early: Tomorrow's Saturday. Nobody can get much sense out of anyone on a Friday. I'd love to know why - if you get the business at hand over before home time, it won't be sitting there for you when you stumble in to the office on Monday morning, soaking wet, cold, miserable and hung over.

Right. Well, weather report. Yes, there is some.

The ground outside is nice and green, with a few white patches holding on there. Doubtless, there'll be snow and clag all over the pavements, and it will be like Dancing on Ice, with the stumbling and the ouch and without the dancing.

It's cold outside, and wet, and miserable. But at least it's not snowing right now. So I'm off to get all of the necessaries done before the weather changes its mind and sends us all of Siberia's snow.

My theory is that this POETS Day thing is something of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Yes, some people go home early on a Friday or take the afternoon off, but by no means all.
What actually happens is that nobody bothers trying to contact anyone on a Friday afternoon because they don't expect anyone to be available on a Friday afternoon.

I time my urgent calls for Monday mornings, as I said, not because I'd get less done on a Friday but simply because I'd be catching all the office workers at their worst, after a weekend of debauchery and revelry.

I just like putting the "Bloody" in "Bloody Mondays." >:)
