On HBT and My Lifestyle
Feb. 14th, 2011 06:39 pmSO. Holistic Business Therapy. What and how and why?
This morning someone asked me about this when I stated HBT as my freelancing thing. She said "I thought you said you were a novelist!" To which I replied "I am that," I didn't add that while I may be a novelist, HBT will give me some experiences to write about.
To begin with, I have been asked to submit a short reflection on how becoming a holistic business therapist will impact on my lifestyle.
I believe that it will improve upon my lifestyle. At the very least it will give me more money to play with, so I can afford fancier transport to and from a business premises on an appointment.
As for that lifestyle ...
I patrol.
Give me a bus schedule, a train schedule and a rover ticket, and from 06:00 till last thing at night, I will just put on my clothes and my walking shoes, hop onto public transport and just head off somewhere, on patrol. What am I looking for? Anything, really. An odd number; an interesting business; an email address, or a business premises somewhere. Even something like a small cafe, particularly a new one just setting up somewhere.
I'll go on in, take a look around, make friends with the proprietors, sit down, have a coffee, ask about the business, get contact details and go about my merry way.
And some time later, I hear of someone who wants to go to Manchester, or Liverpool, or on a later patrol I might overhear someone wondering about where they can go for a cup of coffee, or look for a particular kind of retail store. I tell them about the premises I visited earlier, where to find it, and I also tell the potential customer to say that I sent them.
Sometimes I find myself doing something, well, holistic. To me, that just means "looking at the whole thing, every angle," but other folks think it means "playing with dark and sinister occult forces." Which it also is. After all, those dark and sinister occult forces make such fun playmates.
So how would becoming a formal freelancer help me out with my lifestyle? As you can imagine, it would help me out no end. Might even get around to casting an even wider net, enough money comes my way. Who knows how far my patrols might take me.
