I just found myself posting about Bavarian Fire Drills, and I came upon the entry for "stone soup" elsewhere.

I had forgotten about the Stone Soup game. And then I read an entry about a cartoon wherein some scam artists tried out this game with "concentrated stone juice," so I was LOOOL.

Finally, I came upon this line:-

"In the Aarne-Thompson folktale classification system it is type 1548."

What the hell, they have classifications of folk stories now?

"Seven of Nine, have you come across something like this before?"

"Yes, Captain. The Borg designation is After-Dinner Ribald Anecdote 276, "The Two Tired Gentlemen And The Very Accommodating B&B Landlord's Wife."

Off to offline climes. Night night. :)

They've had 'em for years! I first learned about it in a folklore class with Prof. Ari Berk...they're classified by things like plot, archetype, and themes, so you can class together things like Cinderella stories or stories about "fear of the foreign/unknown" or jokes about incongruous groups of people walking into bars.
