Thanks to years of mindbending mendacity by the right wing press, the folks can't tell the difference between the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights, a body of the Council of Europe - which precedes the EU, and was founded in part by us.

I tell them of the ECHR's abolition of hanging as punishment, and they talk to me of the Metric Martyrs. I tell them of the ECHR's protection of our basic human right to speak in public, and they talk to me of straight bananas.

And then I tell them that we'd be on our knees thanking the ECHR if we were Romani gypsies, and guess what? "Well what about our jobs?"

They're retired. They don't have jobs for anyone to steal.

And then I tried to add "... because if not for the ECHR we'd all be speaking fucking German and you would not exist as Welsh or Irish - you'd all be citizens of a united German fucking Reich!"

But they were having none of this.

The nazis should not have tried bombing us. If they'd wanted to win the war, all they had to do was just buy ownership of the right wing press. They are doing a better job of promoting nazism than the Third Reich ever could with guns and bombs.
