At Long Last
Nov. 25th, 2005 03:43 pmI finally got my ears fully syringed today.
The problem had been the right ear: the ear canal blockage had been impossible to shift on Wednesday, so a new visit had to be scheduled for today, after class.
This time, there was slightly more success. Wednesday night and last night, I was able to apply Cerumol earwax remover to the affected ear - no need for me to do anything about my left ear, since it had been cleared up on the first attempt :) - and last night, I felt the reassuring sensation deep in the canal which meant that the eardrops were, in fact, managing to penetrate the blockage.
Well, this afternoon, the procedure only took a few seconds before I began to feel that dizzy sensation which meant that the water was hitting the tympanic membrane directly. A few seconds later, and I was reassured that the ear was now clear, and that my tympanic membranes were perfectly healthy.
Moreover, I can now hear again, which would give me more joy if the first thing to hit my ears, on my arrival at my parents' place to tell them the good news, hadn't been the scream of the bloody tile cutter.
I was, though, very relieved to see the mass of almost black sitting there in the bottom of a metal cup full of cloudy water, let me tell you. If it means me putting a maintenance level dosage of ear drops into my ears once a month for the rest of my life, I'm not going to let this happen to me again, if I can help it.
