And now ... Sport.
Mar. 15th, 2008 07:03 pmBecause I don't normally do this, but because it means a lot to some - and it's unexpected:-
Wales v France - Women
Wales Women 3-0 France Women
Wales Women had a solitary penalty from Birchgrove's Michaela Reed to thank as they bravely overcame France at rain-soaked Taffs Well.
Victory meant Wales ended the Six Nations in second place, their only defeat coming against England.
The win made it a day to remember for veteran wing Louise Rickard as she won her 100th cap.
It was also memorable for twins Louise and Claire Horgan, who propped together for Wales for the first time.
Wales v France - Six Nations
Wales (9) 29
Tries: S Williams, M Williams
Cons: S Jones (2)
Pens: Hook (3), S Jones (2)
France (6) 12
Pens: Elissalde (3), Yachvili
Wales completed their transformation from World Cup flops to secure their second Grand Slam in four years and send the nation into raptures.
An early 9-3 lead was whittled away by France after Gavin Henson's sin-binning on the stroke of half-time.
But Shane Williams got the crucial score on 60 minutes, becoming Wales' all-time top try scorer in the process.
Stephen Jones' steady hand from the bench helped them home, Martyn Williams capping an outstanding show with a try.
Wrexham 2-1 Bury
The report on this one is still pending.
Right, well I'm off now to go and sing Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau with my nephew Sam. Then settle down later to watch CSI on five. :)
